Meet Our Team
Diana & Bernie Cignavitch
Diana and Bernie Cignavitch are the heart and soul behind Personal Care Ambulance. They moved to Charleston with their two children and labrador retriever in 1994. After earning certification through DHEC, they personally handled all transports, gaining invaluable insights into delivering the high-quality service that our local community relies upon today. Both are college-educated professionals committed to continuously enhancing our operations to better serve our patients and community.
Ed Borja, EMS Director
Born in the Philippines and raised in Upper Darby, Pennsylvania, Ed Borja has been an integral part of Personal Care since 1997. Prior to his civilian paramedic career, he served as a Hospital Corpsman in the U.S. Navy from 1994 to 2001, earning an Honorable Discharge. His 911 paramedic experience spans from 1999 to 2004, working with Charleston County EMS. He joined Personal Care as a full-time Paramedic in 2004 and progressed to Manager in 2008. In 2015, he was promoted to EMS Director, a position he still holds today. In addition to his directorial duties, Ed also oversees supply management and training, demonstrating his versatility and dedication to the organization.
